Wrapping It Up…

…as there is definitely a front coming through. I have been fortunate enough to have had the pleasure of enjoying a ton of blooms on my deck that I called “Club Gerber” on Facebook. I look back at when I started putting flowers out in pots on the deck five years ago. I grew a ton of romaine, or should I say Gerber daisy leaves. It seemed that way after the plants lost their blooms. My friend Bela’s Dad was visiting and let me in on some secrets that have made all the difference.

Meanwhile, my trainer,Kasia, is in with me, after a walk a little while ago. I am happy to say I haven’t wrapped up my exercise/walking plans. Kas works me out, for which I am so grateful. We have taken many walks and had some gorgeous sights. To give credit where credit is due, her Dad took the gorgeous shot of the Kasia girl.

So with the first frost coming overnight, another season moves away from us here, and we’ll get our minds and bodies set for the late fall and winter. It’s always a good thing!

Here @ Undisclosed Location

It’s a beautiful day here, if you discount the “gazillion” percent humidity. Allegedly we are due for thunderstorms this afternoon or tonight. In the meanwhile I am taking part of the long standing tradition of moving the sprinkler periodically across the lawn.

The heat is kicking our lawns’ butt, so I convinced Jim to put the sprinkler out, with assurances that I would stay on top of it and move it periodically. Hell, my job during summer vacation, other than walking with my trainer, Kasia, is watering flowers and vegetables. Lawns? No big leap for women-kind there.

You don’t mind it when you manage to snag an occasional sunset like the one above. It makes it all worthwhile.

Time for the Trainer

My trainer turned 10 years old this year. Hard to believe!

She has worn out tufts of hair on her legs and on one of them, she had been picking or hitting at it. I have to keep my girl in good shape, so we went to the vet this afternoon. She also was due for a booster shot so we turned it into a two-fer. In order to make sure she stays healthy and there is no infection on her leg, Kasia needs antibiotics for two weeks. I decided to give it to her tonight with dinner. It’s incredible how you can almost hide things in food.

I am blessed to still have her. I appreciate her every day she’s here. I know Kasia wasn’t too happy with me, in that she had to go to the vet. Hey, I need my trainer in good shape!

Training with Kas…continued

Kasia and I were at the bay this morning, since we both enjoyed the break in the weather that started with yesterday’s rain.

You can see the marked difference in the sky from yesterday. The blue over the bay was back and a great breeze was riding side-car. We walked for a nice clip along the bay and then made our way back home.

The flip side of this is it is still vacation time for a lot of folks, and I guess the amount of umbrellas will increase as we get closer to the weekend. It’s ok, though. Kasia and I are used to it and will adapt when we see a lot of folks. Hopefully we will keep getting out early enough to enjoy some solitude on our mother/daughter/ trainer walks. I know she enjoys them. As for me, the exercise is good, but more importantly, I savor every second I have with my girl. I know her sister, Zush, would want me to.

Wilted

It is July. We all know that. If you read this blog with any regularity, you know how MUCH I hate the humidity. This morning when we got up, Kasia and I went out for our walk and I came back like a wet wash rag- really! With a 100% cotton shirt on, I was soaking wet.

My “trainer” put me through my paces a wee bit, but she was feeling the heat, too. We are vegetating inside, and I might even take a nap. It’s that hot!😓You can bet I am going to dream of October, too!

Hydrate and stay cool!

Kasia’s Bath

It’s the beginning of a hot stretch. My trainer, Kasia, is feeling the heat, as am I.

So what better time to give the Kas-girl a bath?

Trick question.

According to Kasia, there is NO good time for a bath. 😂

First I make a bucket full of warm water with a wash rag. She gets shampooed with oatmeal and neem oil shampoo. I wash her gently but thoroughly. As you can see by the standing picture, Kas wants to be anywhere but here.

By the time it comes to rinse off, she resigns herself to sitting down. I am soaked down to my skin. I only make the same observation: who gave who a bath?
